Hunger bites to the spirit

It bites and pains

She longs for the plate of rice

It’ll be hours before she gets it

She tries to increase her  pace

But shes frail and weak

For hunger bites to her spirits

I see cattle resting alongside the road

Resting? That’s what I thought

They are too weak to move

And some are dead already

The drought has been intense

For hunger bites to their spirit

It was on TV someday

A kid suckling on a dog

It was a dirty rooming dog

When hunger bites it’s impossible to ignore

For hunger bites to your spirit

The whole village lie under the Acacia

Waiting on Red Cross to deliver

It’s takes too long sometimes

They serve the living and bury the dead

For hunger bites to their spirit
